York, the east coast resorts of Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby and Scarborough and the Yorkshire Dales are all within a short drive as is the unparalleled scenery of the spectacular North York Moors National Park.
Whether you are walking the Cleveland or Ebor Way’s cycling in the 12,000 acres of Dalby Forest, rambling on local paths and routes or touring this hidden region the Carlton Lodge is an ideal base from which to explore the marvellous locality.

We offer 8 cosy en suite bedrooms all fully equipped to the Silver Award grade granted to us by VisitBritain who are charged with standard setting within the national tourism industry. Breakfast is locally sourced with dry cured Yorkshire bacon from Taste Tradition in Cold Kirby (6 miles) farm fresh eggs from Ebberston (15 miles) sausages from the Masham Sausage Shop in the Yorkshire Dales, mushrooms from Topcliffe near Thirsk. Occasional appearances of black pudding from Doreen Hague and smoked salmon from Yoadwath Mill complete your excellent morning repast prior to your exploring.
