2009 at the Carlton Lodge certainly saw a swing in favour of the ‘stay-cation’. Business levels rose by an unprecedented amount (as my knees will testify!). No one I suspect knows whether this was just a flash in the pan or whether this heralds the start of a re-invention of the UK holiday.
What we experienced in 2009 however was the desire of our clients to either stay longer or visit more often in some cases both options prevailed! It occurred to us that some busy people might welcome the opportunity of a ‘packaged stay’ where a pre-planned but not too formal itinerary could show off North Yorkshire to its best advantage. So we developed two ‘add on’ packages which all have three things in common:
