(Fifth Review)

The purpose of this Fire Risk Assessment is to ensure as far as possible the fire safety of visitors and staff including contractors at the Carlton Lodge bed and breakfast.

Fire Safety Policy

The management advocate a philosophy of vigilance in all matters relating health and safety at work. Fire safety issues are a natural extension of the Carlton Lodge’s care policy.

The Carlton Lodge now operates as a totally non-smoking B&B.

The Hotel employs Cook Fires Services (Morecambe 01524 402090) to maintain its Emergency Lighting System and its Central Fire Alarm System including sounders, integrated alarms, both heat and smoke, (all bedrooms equipped with smoke detectors 24 February 2007, upgraded from Heat Detectors ) and call points. Visits are made twice a year, faults if any are rectified, and the findings recorded.

The Fire Extinguishers throughout the building are maintained by North Yorkshire Fire Protection Company (Northallerton 01606 779746).  An annual visit is scheduled normally for December each year and the findings are recorded on each extinguisher. Replacements including replacement charges are purchased as required.

The next PAT inspection is due on March 2014.

The people at risk of fire on the Carlton lodge premises include Visitors, Staff, Management and Contractors.

Special attention is given to any of the above categories that are disabled or have mobility difficulties. B&B guests with mobility/disability issues are accommodated on the ground floor only.

Fire Notices are displayed in all bedrooms both in the Guest Information Pack and in an encapsulated cover in 5 languages.
