We’ve a genuine love for the great outdoors and offer the perfect stay all for walkers, from leisurely day hikers to Cleveland Way pilgrims.  A number of picturesque local walks, and superb national trails, start from our doorstep.  Alongside the Cleveland Way, there’s the Ebor Way, Inn Way to the North York Moors, Abbey Way and charming Tabular Hills Walk.  We’re also a superb base for strolling along the labyrinth of trails in the Howardian Hills (AONB) or visiting Castle Howard.  Whilst ‘England’s Finest View’ at Sutton Bank is only a short drive away

We’re a brief stroll from Helmsley’s beautiful ancient square, castle ruins, colourful walled garden and the magnificent Duncombe Park. Helmsley is home to a rich variety of local delis, bakers, butchers, bookshops, florists and quaint tearooms.   The North York Moors Heritage Railway, everyone’s favourite steam train, is a short drive away in neighbouring Pickering.  The atmospheric abbeys of Rievaulx and Byland, the medieval city of York and the foodie town of Malton are all Yorkshire gems waiting to be discovered.  Why not walk through Whitby in the footsteps of Count Dracula or gaze out to sea from the Captain Cook Monument? And if you’re after a day at the races, then we’re just up the road from Thirsk.  A town also known as the birthplace of James Herriot, Yorkshire’s most famous vet.
