B&B Information

Escape to a haven of yesterday where traditional principles are still valued today.

Relax and sleep in cosy comfort after enjoying your day in this historic and heritage rich region.

Whether you are cycling in the North York Moors National Park, walking locally or long distance or simply relaxing in this outstanding area of natural beauty the Carlton Lodge stands willing to play its part in your memorable visit.

Of course a library of maps and walks, recommendations for eating, WI-Fi, private secure parking come as a given at the Carlton Lodge along with probably some of the worst ‘one liners’ ever uttered in a breakfast room in North Yorkshire!

Set on the southern edge of the 550 square miles of ‘glorious wilderness’ that is the North York Moors National Park lies the 12th century Market Town of Helmsley. The Carlton Lodge stands 350 yards from the historic Market Square and has offered award winning B&B for over 29 years under the same ownership and is waiting to welcome you, now.

Enjoy a local view as you read about our rooms.

Historic York once the capital of England, the east coast resorts of Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby and Scarborough and the Yorkshire Dales are all within a short drive. All have their own unique characteristics but one common theme throughout is their welcome to visitors which is genuinely warm and good-humoured.

So whether you are walking the Cleveland or Ebor Way’s, cycling in the 12,000 acres of Dalby Forest, rambling on local and national paths and routes or touring this hidden region the award winning Carlton Lodge is the ideal B&B for you.

Late Summer on the North York Moors

At our bed and breakfast we offer 8 cosy fully equipped en suite bedrooms and our traditional breakfast is locally sourced with dry cured Yorkshire bacon from Arthur Haigh’s in Dalton near Thirsk (16 miles) farm fresh eggs from Terrington (10 miles) sausages from the Masham Sausage Shop in the Yorkshire Dales, mushrooms from Topcliffe near Thirsk. Occasional appearances of black pudding from Doreen Haigh and smoked salmon from Yoadwath Mill complete your excellent morning repast prior to your exploring.
