The Star Inn – Harome

The Hare – Scawton

The Hare is a fabulous 3 Rosette 12th Century Inn located just 5 miles from Helmsley in the pretty village of Scawton.  Recently, the award-winning team were crowned “Restaurant Of The Year” 2019 by Yorkshire Life Magazine.  The much-respected Hare at Scawton prepares a delicious tasting menu in a relaxed and intimate setting.

Award winning Head Chef, Paul Jackson and his team use seasonally available local produce to prepare beautiful food.  The end result is exceptionally fine dining as each dish on their tasting menu is individually designed to showcase the team’s ability, and to incorporate different cooking techniques, including modern and traditional methods.  The team proudly states their personalities are reflected on each individual plate.  The highly rated Hare is one of the top places to eat in North Yorkshire.

The Pheasant Hotel – Harome

The superb Pheasant Hotel is, like the Star Inn, located in the pretty neighbouring village of Harome.  Overlooking the village duckpond, the Pheasant was originally converted from the local blacksmith’s shop, village shop and barns.  It is now listed in the Michelin Guide and highly regarded at the home to Chef and Director Peter Neville and his award- winning restaurant.  Peter has a fantastic reputation for offering the best in local, seasonal dishes which are described as ‘a wonderful lightness of touch, fantastic taste and combinations of flavour.’  With fields, river and woods only a quick hop over the garden wall there is no shortage of foraging inspiration and fresh finds.

When dining at the Pheasant you’ll have a choice of bar and grill, lunch and dinner a la carte, tasting menus, Sunday Lunch or afternoon tea.    On a fine afternoon or evening the outside Terrace overlooking the village duck pond offers the perfect setting.  Whilst the Conservatory, Bar and Lounge are also wonderful places to dine.
